Birthday Messages

I've been trying to clear the messages that's been hogging space in my phone.  The last times I've tried to delete them, my handphone would stall and I wouldn't be able to use it until at least 30mins later. THAT really put me off deleting them again. But you know, eventually the phone gets gigabyte heavy... The phone saves sent messages (which hit >3,000) and the inbox messages had also hit 4,000++. I KNOW I CAN'T DELAY IT ANY LONGER. It's insane, considering my first few phones could only store up to 50 smses and my 2nd phone, 100 smses. Phones and technology nowadays are in their own league.

So guess what. When I'm traveling or doing mundane things, I had to delete them manually. Gosh. That's mad. If only the phone can delete messages without shutting down on its own. Even phones complain when overworked yea.

Stumbled upon my birthday messages this year.

Why do we all wish each other happy birthdays? It's like, the only day we all have, that someone else has also. And its the only day that is truly ours to celebrate? Well, I haven't really been taking time and effort to celebrate my birthdays. If I had celebrations, I have my friends and family to thank. The past few years saw my birthdays during intensive film shoots/sch work or exams. Hence, I remember getting birthday presents from friends I hardly meet even months after my actual birthday. Which I didn't mind, of course. haha. I love it that they still remember.

But I also realise how many people forget their own birthdays when they're busy!
Why do we celebrate birthdays? What does it mean to you?

Is it the double-digit number that clicks upwards each time, the friends you get to meet, the presents and well-wishes, the barometer of love or popularity, the reminder of goals you have set for yourself which you have/have not achieved, resolutions, time to feel happy/sad/anxious/worry/paranoid/angry/disappointed/excited... etc, your grey hairs and aging body??

Or it could be just another excuse for love. =)

Think that birthday is just another way to remind us to celebrate our life. Celebrate everyday that you are alive for that gives you the chance to do something good.
The birthday messages = I remember you. =)
