Go4World Mission Camp 2008

I've put off blogging for a while, even though I have been supposedly more 'free'.

Due to my 'free-ness', I decided to attend my parents' church camp at Salvation Army on Tuesday and Wednesday (22-23 Jan). I didn't have much expectations, just wanting to hear from God.

In those 2 (very long) days that began from 9.30am to 12am+++++ , I've seen such a new perspective that I never used to before. New experiences, new encounters, and new lessons.

I do admit, that I was lost the first day. Partly because, being used to English services, worship and prayers, I had to adapt to the Chinese songs, sermons and prayers. Not only that, the pastor who was translating (It was originally preached in Korean, then translated to Chinese) had Korean accents to his Chinese, and the Hanyupinyin was accented wrongly too... so it muddled me a bit, making it difficult to understand at first. But gladly, my ears were trained by the 2nd day came. haha.. (At least I'm improving my Chinese in some way. haha..)

English.
I've said it, dreamt it, think it, eat it, played it and sung it enough to the point of being able to say it without fully knowing or aware of the meaning at times. It becomes something you just SAY, without exceptionally much thought. And with people using it too much (and sometimes in inappropriate contexts), perhaps, I've become desensitized to the nature of the words and its sincere meaning. perhaps not.

Chinese.
It did help to bring a new dimension of understanding to certain words, songs, etc. Partly cos half the time I was busy staring at the word on the projector and trying to recall its meaning and its pronunciation so I can say it in the first place. hahaha. Well, it's a start. It's like reading all the different English versions of the Bible that we now have. Though they're all talking about the same thing, but the different versions help bring us a fresh perspective of the same thing. Maybe that was what I experienced too.

What I really loved about this camp, was that it was the first church camp my whole family went for, even if our full attendance together was half a day cos of school. It was such a good feeling, like a unity, like a team. Everyone was prayed for and received special word. Awesome.

Well, that wasn't the only reason why I loved it. I might tell it to you if you want to know. =)

The camp was international and multi-lingual. Cool camp if you ask me. And what's more, the camp grew larger in size as the day went on. Day 2 was larger than Day 1, 3 more than 2 and 4 more than 3. ( 4 day camp)
