Think paranoia.
Think indestructible.
Think outsmart-ism.
Think of watching this movie. =)
Wah, first thing that hits me. bad.
The camera.
First of all, it gave me a terrible headache, from wondering what the whole point of handheld shots were in relation to this story, and from the visual shakiness that my friends probably complained about from The Blair Witch Project. I thought it was a feeble attempt to make the intro look exciting and action-packed. Just about when I was to call cut! for the screening of the intro, i realise what the fuss over handheld was.
Surveillance. Surveillance. Surveillance.
The movie is full of it. Sort of like another version of The Truman Show, but this one might have you in it. It's all satellite & CCTV-based. And the whole idea of basically being watched by another person.
And then I got hit by their camera again.
That's when all their camera work goes WOW WHEE. It is excellent. The first time i said "whoa" in this movie was when they start establishing shots from helicopters, zooming out from a medium shot of a person to reveal the whole entire @#*$&#% landscape. It is just fantastic. Kudos to the focus puller! haha. (How much do they pay you man??)
In short, it's a story about how Jason Bourne wants to find his identity and perhaps, the reason, for what he's been doing (killing people). For the rest of the synopsis, go read it yourself. =)
One of my favourite things about this movie are the chase scenes. I love chase scenes. and this one has impressed me lots, jumping over rooftops, road chase, bombs exploding... it really twists your mind. The most memorable one for me was Bourne driving a stolen police car backwards and around-wards, trying to get away from those 'bad guys', who're also mere puppets of the "assassination organisation". Every time the police car whams into another car, the siren happily goes off "piu piu bo-wheeee~" as if this is all just a child's game. hahaha.. i love it. Makes real fun of the police force, you know. you'll see why if you watch it. =b
If Jason Bourne was a real person, he'd be on my top list of cool guys. haha. yes, he IS way way better than James Bond. (is james bond even cool?) bourne is like the person who knows what to do in every situation, knows how to save people, dares to do things many people don't, and is a survivor. He's smart, intelligent, and knows how to fight well. He's just forgetful, that's all. =p
Too bad such guys aren't easy to find. =(
haha.
Good thing my brother gave me the low-down of the story before I caught it, cos shamelessly, i didn't watch the pre-quels before watching the third part. (D'oh!) But i thought the Ultimatum was pretty self-contained and wouldn't throw off a newbie like me too much. Overall, its pretty good a movie. The story is alright, with the usual bad guys acting evil and all. The action is what drives the story forward, i'd think. Many smart plots and ideas in it which i liked.
