Independence Day - 4th July

YAY!
You know why i'm so happy even though i'm sad?

I've never cheered for a team so much that I actually want to see them win SOOOOO BAD. Yesterday I went for a baseball game on Independence Day 4th July ( the equilivant to our National Day).

You see, the whole state (Los Angeles) was supporting their own team, the Dodgers (blue team) and they were playing against the red team, the Braves from Atlanta on Dodgers homeground (eh Raymond!). now, the stadium was so biased against the Braves, that even the whole building is cheering for the Dodgers! Yeah, seriously, they'll play music, have funky intros for the Dodgers, promptings to cheer... its just so cool. I thought the building was alive, man. The stadium was so biased that I actually feel bad for the Braves.

Now I know how scary it can be like to be the only supporter of the opposition team surrounded by fans of the other team! Super scary. haha... you don't know when you might get ham-tam... There were just so many people. The game was a sell-out!

Anyhow, despite our cheerings ("Let's go Dodgers!"), the Braves from Atlanta won. And I actually felt sad..

What made my day was that one of my dreams was fulfilled.
Ever heard of the song, "Take me out to the Ball Game" ?
It's one of my favourite childhood songs. Even though I cannot remember the full lyrics, we sang it many times in middle school and the tune has been imprinted deep in me.
I've always wanted to watch a real ball game, and sing that song.

And so it was fulfilled at the seventh inning of the game, where they traditionally have their "seventh inning stretch" - where everyone will stand up and stretch (by then we've already sat for 2 hours in that 3-hour-game), and sing this song.

Take me out to the Ball Game
(chorus)
Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game.

And since it's Independence Day, there was fireworks! I tell you, it's probably the best fireworks I've ever seen. I think it was 14mins long! It lasted 6 or 7 songs, and they seemed to dance to the music! so touching... I miss Bangkok Patana.

I shall upload the pics and possibly videos.
Wondrous wondrous wondrous.
