Differences among people

was talking to a danish friend on exchange here recently. she said that back in denmark, it is a lot more relaxed. everyone gets a scholarship to university, so its actually free for them to study there. so good. and their average grades are not as important as ours here in singapore. she says that there're kinda like 2 groups of people. they're mostly totally geeks there (in her own words) and i'd guess they love what they're doing, even in engineering. they have lots more modules and electives ( they're called "selectives" over there) even in the engineering courses and they actually take it cos they want to. other than that, those who don't like school just drop out fast. i was telling her that the people here cling on in school for dear life. which is kinda true isn't it? my observation anyway. asians value education greatly.
