I heard a conversation of a father and little 6-year-old son going on behind me while taking a bus ride home from church. The boy was really little:
Father: " 你要个新的妈米吗? 我帮你找一个新的妈米 ok?"
Son: " 哦... 我喜欢旧的妈米 leh...我要旧的妈米."
Father: "我找一个新的妈米给你啦. 你喜欢吃炒果条吗? 新的妈米会买很多炒果条给你吃hor.."
Son: "我要旧的妈米..."
Father: "你很乖hor, 不会哭的hor... 你比交喜欢新的妈米还是旧的妈米?"
Son: " mm... 我喜欢旧的妈米.."
I don't know how long this conversation went on for, but I had to alight the bus and left them as that. It's not that I'm eavesdropping, but they were talking right behind me and I couldn't help it. I didn't think it was cute or funny. The little boy was actually talking in a very casual, matter of fact way. He wasn't even whining or crying.
Such innocence of a child... and what parents are actually doing to them...

oh dear... the dad is so lucky his kid didn't kick up a fuss right there and then... although... i do foresee it happening a few years down the road... when the kid becomes a teenager...
